Captain Grant Surtees, a British-South African national, holds his RYA Yachtmaster Offshore 200T (Sail) and IYT Master of Yachts 200T (Power) and has over seven years of professional yachting experience. He has commanded sailing and motor yachts across the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mediterranean. Experienced in both technical operations and guest-focused service, Grant is known for his approachable leadership style, meticulous attention to safety, and ability to create memorable guest experiences. His passion for the ocean and versatile skill set make him an excellent captain.

Originally from Southern California, I’ve built my career around hospitality, travel, culinary arts, and creating memorable experiences. With five years of experience as a Yacht Chef aboard private and charter yachts, I’ve traveled throughout the Caribbean, Pacific, and Mediterranean, drawing inspiration from more than 50 countries. I hold a USCG 100-Ton Captain’s License, am a PADI Dive Instructor, and certified Yoga Teacher. I’m passionate about refined cuisine, thoughtful hospitality, and creating seamless, unforgettable guest experiences.

 

Meet First Mate Juan Groenewald

Mate/Engineer Juan Groenewald, a South African national, offers 10 years of maritime experience with strong technical and diving expertise. Certified in STCW, PADI Divemaster, freediving, and commercial diving, he has worked extensively in the Caribbean as a marine technician and first mate. He has led maintenance across a fleet of 25 yachts, handling mechanical, electrical, and underwater repairs. Energetic, guest-focused, and detail-oriented, Juan combines technical precision with a love for the sea, making him an invaluable asset aboard.
