Robert Marx - Captain
Nationality: South African
Languages: English

Robert, a farm boy from South Africa, had to learn early on how to fix things and to be innovative when you can’t find parts for machinery or equipment. After helping his dad on the farm for several years, he joined a Construction company where he traveled all over the Eastern Cape of SA, managing new building sites.

In 2006 he joined the yachting industry and spent his first year as the Chief Engineer on the 164ft M/Y Chantel Ma Vie. When the opportunity arose for him to work with his wife, they joined M/Y El Jefe where he started as Mate/Engineer before becoming the Captain onboard in 2009. He has since completed a ton of successful charters as Captain and has cruised all over the Caribbean, Bahamas and up and down the US East Coast.

In 2022 Robert and his wife joined M/Y Unbridled and he is ready to take guests on the adventure of a lifetime. His meticulous attitude ensures all systems are running smoothly and are well maintained for a safe and carefree vacation. His easy-going nature will make you feel comfortable from the moment you step onboard. He likes to make people laugh and keep guests active and entertained. When not navigating the crystal-clear waters off some tropical island, Robert enjoys motor sports, fishing, camping and watching documentaries.

Daphne Marx - Chief Stewardess
Nationality: South African
Languages: English

Daphne was born in South Africa’s windy city, Port Elizabeth. She always dreamed of being on big boats and wanted to explore the world. After college, she started working in the construction industry as a property and project manager, but eventually, the call of the ocean won and Daphne, along with her husband, decided to quit their land base jobs and started a new adventure.

For the past 17+ years, she has worked on yachts ranging from 107ft to 200ft, where her calm demeanor and can-do attitude made her a favorite amongst owners, guests, and crew. Professional, personable and caring best describes Daphne. With her background in Property Management and her experience in service, she has a great eye for detail and is adept at being invisible when necessary, yet appearing at just the right moment to ensure everything runs smoothly. Daphne’s passion for her job makes her the perfect hostess, always on hand to anticipate guests' needs.

When Daphne is not planning a theme night or making cocktails, she loves to do photography while exploring new places. She also loves camping and hiking, or relaxing with a good book or movie.

Esha Groenewald - Mate/Dive Master
Nationality: South African
Languages: English

Growing up in the beautiful coastal town of Knysna, South Africa, Esha developed a deep appreciation for the ocean from an early age. After finishing school, he spent six years working in upper-class restaurants, where he developed a strong foundation in hospitality and guest service. Looking for a new adventure, he moved into the resort industry as a tour guide, where he discovered a passion for spearfishing and life on the water. What started as a hobby quickly became a lifestyle. Determined to pursue his passion, Esha earned his Divemaster certification along with his Advanced Freediver qualification before completing his yachting certifications and making the move to the United States to begin his career in the yachting industry.

Since joining his first yacht, Esha has continued to build his experience both above and below the surface. He has achieved his Master of Yachts Certificate of Competency and has logged hundreds of dives in destinations around the world. When the opportunity arose to join M/Y Unbridled, he jumped at the chance and has never looked back.

Esha thrives on creating unforgettable experiences for charter guests, whether that means leading scuba diving and snorkeling excursions, teaching guests to enjoy the yacht's extensive collection of water toys, or simply sharing his enthusiasm for the ocean. His calm, friendly nature and genuine passion for adventure make him a valued member of the crew and someone guests immediately feel comfortable with. When he's not on duty, Esha can usually be found in or on the water, whether diving, freediving, spearfishing, or enjoying almost any watersport. As he continues learning from his experienced captain and growing within the industry, his long-term goal is to one day captain his own yacht. Until then, he's exactly where he wants to be—doing what he loves and helping guests create memories they'll never forget.
